The Hindmarsh family from Branch No1 are now dispersed widely, with groups in Australia (Adelaide), New Zealand (Tawa), Finland as well as in the home countries of England and Scotland. The early ancestors lived on the borders of Northumberland (Middleton in Teesdale, Hungry Hall, Allendale) North Yorkshire (Romaldkirk, Baldersdale, Kelton) and Westmoreland/Cumberland (Brough in Stainmore, Ravensworth, Kirby Stephens). There is some evidence to indicate that they were lead miners and yeoman farmers prior to 1820 and this may, in part, explain their movement away from the Brough Under Stainmore area to Romaldkirk.
