Description: Goole is situated where the River Ouse meets the River Aire. In 1826, the Aire & Calder navigation company built a canal from Leeds to Goole. This was the start of the development of Goole and, with the installation of a Railways link in 1848, a large town built up exporting coal from the West Riding of Yorkshire to the rest of the world. Today Goole is home of the Associated British Ports most inland port.
Comment: The only details available for this Branch is the name of the researcher: C J Hindmarsh, who, in 1979, lived at Derwent Lodge, Hailgate, Howden, Goole, North Humberside. At this stage, it thus not possible to construct a family tree. Any information from readers would be appreciated.
